I first heard about the RMS Titanic, which sank on 15 April 1912 in the North Atlantic Ocean and was the largest ocean liner in service at the time, when I saw the old movie, "A Night to Remember" (1958). Apparently when the movie came out it created an obsession about the events of the ship's sinking.
It created something of an obsession in me when I saw the film in the late 1980s. I read tons of books about it, but felt frustrated that I wasn't getting to the Truth of It, so I went to the main Vancouver (BC) library and read the TRANSCRIPTS to the Hearings from both America and London. Keep in mind this was BEFORE the Internet and I had to read them IN THE LIBRARY because they were in the Reference section. It meant I had to do it over several Saturdays, take the bus in the rain and, uh, ... I was BAREFOOT ๐คจ❗️
(Okay. OKAY. I wasn't "barefoot", but all the rest was true.)
I became an expert on the topic, so when I heard James Cameron was making a Titanic movie I anticipated it eagerly. But the lineups at the box office were so long, I decided to wait a bit. Finally, 3 months later I went to see it and the lineup was still so long I barely made it into the Theater and some people were sent away.
As soon as I saw the little girl with the doll with the white, porcelain face I KNEW James Cameron knew his stuff. Except for Jack and Rose, the rest is VERY historically accurate. (At least as much as Hollywood ever gets). This 1997 movie created yet another, even greater, wave of fascination about this ship and it's sinking.
I have pondered for many years why the events of the Titanic, when retold, always causes a wave of fascination. Here's my conclusion.
I believe it a Foreshadowing of these End Times we are now living in. An epitome, on many levels, of the events that are now occurring around us.
I'm going to break it down into simple, brief, key elements, based on actual TESTIMONIES given at the hearings. So hang on. Here we go.
Now, I want to focus on J. Bruce Ismay, who was on the Board of Directors of the WhiteStar Line and was depicted in Titanic (1997) with smarmy, arrogant perfection by the wonderful actor Jonathan Hyde.
However, what makes for good entertainment is not the Truth in this case.
Bruce spent his night on the Titanic urging many people to leave the warm lounge and get into the lifeboat. Many refused at the onset and he himself got into the very last Life BOAT, when he saw there were no women and children around.
His testimony and actions were corroborated many times in the hearing on both continents. But while reading his testimony I could hear his inner turmoil echo forward through the decades. His sheer frustration at people REFUSING to get into the boats. Ignoring his pleading to save themselves before it was too late.
For those of you who can see the myriad of End Tines signs exploding and converging around us are probably feeling the same thing Bruce was. Begging people to acknowledge the danger and that the Ship is going down and they will die if they don't get into the Lifeboats.
I think that every generation (40 years) God makes people aware of the Titanic again, so we have a graphic image in our heads of the danger we are in so that we will be ready to leave without hesitation. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case because human nature never changes. We FEEL warm and safe, we like our riches, our comforts and we are too arrogant to admit our great ship (western civilization) is sinking. We are SO great, so secure that "God himself couldn't sink this ship".
Well, the Titanic went down in a night and BABYLON is going to Fall in just ONE HOUR. So, you can "FLEE BABYLON" (Jeremiah 51:45 ) and get into a Lifeboat
OR
stay comfortable, ignorant, arrogant and DIE.❗️
Buf there were tons of lower class passengers who WANTED to leave but didn't, not because they were locked up (as the movie shows), but from lack of crew to give them CLEAR, SIMPLE guidance of the way out in a language they could understand.
This is OUR job. For those who KNOW "The Way" out, we have nothing to fear, because our place in the boats is reserved. So let's run past the First Class Lounge and head for the regular folk looking for the way out.
