We live in very stressful times. Even as Christians who have the hope of the Rapture the idea of suddenly being face to face with Jesus and "caught up" out of the only life we've ever known is bound to affect us. I've noticed that Jesus is always reminding me to eat right, get more sleep, and do something fun to divert myself for a while. With those things in mind, I advise you to "watch" for the following things in your life.
SLEEP. Get plenty of it.
EAT right. Keep meals coming regularly that are full of good healthy food for a balanced diet.
COOKIE. (My personal favorite) I basically mean to do something to treat yourself. Something you enjoy doing just for the pure enjoyment of it. What is your hobby? Favorite pass time. Keep it going.
UNDO. Panty-hose make my legs itch and have been the bane of my existence. Whenever I got home from a day at work or a Church function, if I couldn't completely change my clothing I at least took off my pantyhose. Men undo their ties or undo the top button of their pants to let their guts hang out. Most of us slip off our shoes. You get the idea. Be conscious of when you are tense (dressed up) and make yourself physically comfortable.
Also, on an emotional level, it means to take the time to laugh, sing, and play EVERY DAY. I had gone an entire day only to realize that I had not only neglected to have a good laugh, but I hadn't even cracked a smile through the entire time. This is much harder if you live alone. You most definitely will have to make an effort to laugh without any conversation. And funny movies and TV shows can have such filthy language in them. I suggest a phone call to a good, funny friend or check out Christian comedians Michael Jr., Chonda Pierce, or the Thou Shalt Laugh festivals. All on Youtube.
And of course, dancing around your kitchen (no offense to my Baptist brothers and sisters) to your favorite tunes will do wonders to help you "Undo".
ROUTINE. With the world on a twenty-four hour time table and many people experiencing some sleeping problems, it's important to keep a routine going. Even if it can't be as precise as it used to be due to circumstances, try to keep day and night going, as well as a weekly timetable. (ie. Sabbath day and specific tasks for specific days of the week). Humans are created to be spontaneous but only within the structure of a good routine.
EXTRA time with Jesus. A few quick minutes of prayer each day just won't cut it anymore. I won't list all the benefits of extended quiet time with Jesus here, because they are so myriad and marvelous. But you need to cut out extra time with the Lord at the beginning and end of EVERY day to pour out your heart, read the Bible, and LISTEN to Him. YOU need to hear what JESUS wants to tell you. He knows all, loves you unconditionally, and always has your best in mind. He is a friend and resource you simply cannot survive very long without.
All those things spell the word S E C U R E. (I thought you'd like that too)😉.
Human beings are made up of our souls (thoughts and emotions), body, and spirit. Each aspect of us hugely affects the other. If we do these things we will stay healthy and happy and useful to others.
Have a good week everyone as we continue to watch for the return of Jesus.
Speaking the truth with love,
Always, Laura-Lee
Remember the adage, “Wash on Monday, Iron on Tuesday, Mend on Thursday, Churn on Thursday, Clean on Friday, Bake on Saturday, Rest on Sunday?” Or, some know it as of Monday – Wash, Tuesday – Iron, Wednesday – Sew, Thursday – Shop, Friday – Clean, Saturday – Bake, Sunday – Rest."
