When the Apostle John (who lived about 2,000 years ago and the Prophet Daniel (who lived about 2,500 years ago) were given prophetic visions of our current times they must have been completely overwhelmed and struggled to make sense of what they were looking at.

I mean, they were living in a time period LONG before things like cars and electricity were invented. That's why when they describe the things we take for granted in the books of Revelation and Daniel they are struggling to find the words and are always using the phrase,
"It was like ..."
It is certainly portions of the Bible that we need to use our imaginations in too. The only difference is that we can much more readily identify what they are describing because it is familiar to us.
